PM Modi turns 74 today; President Murmu, ministers, political leaders extend best wishes

The PM will spend his birthday in Odisha, and will launch the state govt's women-centric initiative, Subhadra Yojana, besides other railway and national highway projects


As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 74 years on Tuesday (September 17), President Droupadi Murmu, union ministers and BJP leaders, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, BJP chief ministers, and others extended their best wishes to him.

President Droupadi Murmu wrote in a post on X in Hindi, "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji on his birthday. On the strength of your personality and work, you have provided extraordinary leadership and increased the prosperity and prestige of the country. I wish that your innovative efforts with the spirit of nation first pave the way to make India a developed nation. I pray to God that you live long and always remain healthy and happy," she wrote.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on 'X' in Hindi with the hashtag #HappyBdayModiji, "Heartiest birthday wishes to the popular Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji who has brought positive changes in the lives of the countrymen through his tireless hard work, perseverance and foresight and has given India a new honour in the world by increasing its pride. I pray to God for your healthy and long life."

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wished the prime minister on X, "Best wishes to Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji on his birthday. May he be blessed with good health and long life."

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also extended his birthday greetings, “My birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wish him good health and a long life.”

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha wrote on his official X handle, “Warm birthday wishes to the visionary leader and great son of Maa Bharati, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

PM Modi’s schedule for the day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch the Odisha government's flagship women-centric initiative, Subhadra Yojana, besides other railway and national highway projects during his visit to the eastern state on Tuesday.

Under Subhadra Yojna, named after Goddess Subhadra, the sister of Lord Balabhadra and Lord Jagannath, all eligible women between the age of 21-60 years would receive ₹50,000 over a period of five years between 2024-25 and 2028-29.

An amount of ₹10,000 per annum would be credited in two installments directly to their accounts. The initiative is expected to cover more than 1 crore women.

PM Modi would initiate the fund transfer into the bank accounts of more than 10 lakh women during the day, the officials said.

He will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation of railway projects worth ₹2,800 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone of national highway projects worth more than ₹1,000 crore, they said.

The prime minister will release the first installment of assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G of around 14 states.

The Griha Pravesh (house-warming) celebrations for 26 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin and Urban) from across the country will be held during the programme. The PM will hand over the keys of their houses to PMAY (Gramin and Urban) beneficiaries.

The PM will launch Awaas+ 2024 App, for survey of additional households for PMAY-G.

He will also launch the operational guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, before returning to the national capital, the officials added.
