PM Modi changes X display picture as Operation Sindoor completes one year

Jaishankar and the chiefs of the armed forces also marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the display picture of his X account as Operation Sindoor completed one year. The new image features a black background with the words “Operation Sindoor” along with the Indian national flag at the top.

Operation Sindoor, the military operation launched by India to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, completed one year on Thursday (May 7). Along with PM Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force also updated their display pictures on X.

PM Modi also shared a message marking the anniversary of Operation Sindoor and praised the Armed Forces for carrying out the precision strikes. “They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour. Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security,” he wrote on X.

The Air Force also posted a video revisiting how India targeted terror infrastructure and Pakistan’s military establishments as the conflict escalated last year. “Operation Sindoor, Justice served. Precise in action, eternal in memory—Operation Sindoor continues. India forgets nothing-India forgives nothing,” the IAF said in a tweet.

Operation Sindoor was launched days after 26 civilians were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Shortly after midnight on May 7, 2025, the Army had announced the launch of the operation.

More than 100 terrorists were killed during the operation. The nine terror camps targeted by India across the border included Muzaffarabad’s Sawai Nala Camp and Syedna Belal Camp, Gulpur Camp, Abbas Camp, Barnala Camp, Sarjal Camp, Mehmoona Joya Camp, Markaz Taiba and Markaz Subhan in Bahawalpur.
