Operation Sindoor: Top 10 takeaways from Armed forces press conference

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh share interesting details; here are the top points

Hours after India's series of strikes on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), dubbed Operation Sindoor, the Ministry of Defence held a media press conference under the lead of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. Here are 10 takeaways from the conference:

1. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, said: “The calculation, presumably, was that harming growth and development in the Union Territory would help keep it backward and create fertile ground for continued cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. The manner of the attack was also driven by an objective of provoking communal discord, both in Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the nation. It is to the credit of the government and the people of India that these designs were foiled. “

2. The Resistance Front (TRF), a front for the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, has taken credit for the Pahalgam attack, with the goal of undermining the return of normalcy and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

3. He mentioned, “It was deemed essential that the perpetrators and planners of the Pahalgam attack be brought to justice. Despite a fortnight having passed, there has been no demonstrable step from Pakistan against terrorists’ infrastructure in its area”.

4. He stressed that further attacks against India are impending, thus forcing India to exercise its right to respond to deter any more cross-border terrorism.

5. The targets attacked in ‘Operation Sindoor’, as announced by Indian intelligence sources include:

Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur

Markaz Taiba, Muridke

Sarjal, Tehra Kalan

Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot

Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala

Markaz Abbas, Kotli - JeM

Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli

Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad

Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad

6. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, addressing the media, expanded on the mission, with videos showing destroyed terror camps, including Sarjal camp, Sialkot, which lies 6 km inside Pakistan.

7. She also presented exclusive videos showing multiple hits on the Muridke and other terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK.

8. One of the videos released by the Indian armed forces on the missile attack also showed the Markaz Taiba terror base, which was said to be a training centre for terrorists involved in the Mumbai 2008 attacks, including Ajmal Kasab and David Headley.

9. Wing Commanded Vyomika Singh said, “Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed, and the locations were selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructure and loss of any civilian lives”.

10. She also said that India was ready to deal with “any misadventures by Pakistan”, showing the Indian Armed Forces' commitment and readiness to any reply from Pakistan.
