TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Friday (October 27) said she won't appear before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on October 31 regarding the cash-for-query charges against her. She said she will appear after November 5.
On Thursday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey told the Ethics Committee that it was an "open and shut" case and that Moitra should be disqualified from the Lok Sabha.
Moitra wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that the Chairman of the Ethics Committee announced her summons on October 31 on live TV before an official letter was emailed to her.
“All complaints and suo moto affidavits also released to media. I look forward to deposing immediately after my pre-scheduled constituency programmes end on Nov 4," she posted.
The MP said she will be busy with post Vijay Dashami gatherings till November 4 in her constituency in West Bengal's Nadia district and sought a date and time to meet the Ethics Committee after November 5.
Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai gave oral evidence to the panel against the Trinamool leader on Thursday.
Later, its chairperson Vinod Kumar Sonkar said the committee will also seek assistance from the ministries of home affairs and IT in probing the allegations.
