Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical political outfit that has rapidly gained traction among young audiences online, has alleged fresh action targeting the party’s social media presence. He claimed that his personal Instagram account had been hacked, while the party’s backup Instagram page was briefly removed amid the group’s sharp rise in popularity before being restored a few hours later.

Dipke said his personal Instagram profile was allegedly compromised and that he no longer had access to it, raising concerns among followers of the youth-focused movement that has recently dominated political discussions across social media platforms. Screenshots posted by him appeared to show several unsuccessful attempts to recover the account through Meta’s recovery system.

Social media row escalates

According to him, each time he selected the “recover it now” option, Instagram displayed the message: “We locked your Instagram account for your safety. To recover your account, you'll need to verify your identity and create a new password”.

Dipke alleged that the same prompt continued appearing despite repeated efforts to recover the profile, preventing him from regaining access to the account. “CJP’s backup Instagram account also taken down,” he wrote on X while sharing an earlier update about his Instagram profile allegedly being hacked.

He later posted a strongly worded statement on X condemning the action against CJP-linked accounts, writing, “Crackdown on Cockroach Janta Party. Instagram page hacked. My personal Instagram hacked. Twitter account withheld. Back up account also taken down”.

"Please note that we currently do not have access to any of our platforms. Any post made after this should not be considered an official statement from the Cockroach Janta Party," Dipke added on X.

CJP mocks blocking action

The latest development comes after another setback earlier this week, when the CJP’s X account was withheld in India.

The group, however, soon returned to the platform through a new account named “Cockroach Is Back”, where it mocked its critics and suggested efforts were underway to suppress the movement due to its increasing popularity.

One post shared by the party stated, “You thought you can get rid of us? Lol”, while another hinted that action was taken after the CJP surpassed several major political parties on Instagram.

Earlier, the Union government ordered X to withhold the CJP account after the Intelligence Bureau flagged it over alleged “national security concerns”, according to The Indian Express. Acting under Section 69(A) of the IT Act, MeitY reportedly directed the platform to block the handle, with officials claiming the account shared inflammatory content that could threaten India’s sovereignty.
