What are the CJP’s 3 demands of the govt?
Two CJP representatives reportedly met Union minister JP Nadda with their list of demands
Even as thousands of students, activists and professionals braved tear gas and baton charges during their protest rally to Parliament, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which is spearheading the protests, put forth three demands in front of the government.
The party said that two of its representatives, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, met Union minister JP Nadda at his residence for 10 minutes after the government reached out to them for talks.
Ranka said during the meeting they put three demands in front of the government:
1. The immediate release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk
2. The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan
3. Rs 1 crore compensation for kin of all NEET aspirants who died by suicide
Wangchuk’s 3 conditions
Earlier in the day, Wangchuk, who continues his hunger strike from the Safdarjung Hospital, has said he will break his fast if at least one of his three demands is met. They are:
1. If the government takes accountability for the recent failures in the education sector, including the paper leaks
2. If MPs and leaders of various parties in Parliament assure CJP protesters that they will take up the issue in the Houses
3. If Wangchuk’s health or other factors do not allow him to be a part of the Parliament march on Monday, then the MPs and leaders of different parties will visit Safdarjung Hospital and give him the above assurance.
