BJP slams Kharge over ‘Modi Ka baap bhi jayega’ remark, says 'language like hooligans'
Amit Shah and BJP chief Nitin Nabin accuse Congress of ‘ideological bankruptcy’ after Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark at an event in Patna triggers a political row
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (Even Modi’s father will have to go) remark in Patna triggered a political storm on Sunday (October 25), with top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president Nitin Nabin, accusing the Congress of “ideological bankruptcy” and likening it to a “mafia gang”. The BJP also accused Kharge of using language associated with “thugs and hooligans”.

The Congress president shot back, saying, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (Let alone Modi, even his father would go).
Congress slammed for 'ideological bankruptcy'
BJP president Nitin Nabin condemned the remark, saying people across the country were watching what he called “indecent politics” and would respond at the appropriate time.
In a post on X, Nabin said Kharge's language towards the Prime Minister reflected the Congress's “ideological bankruptcy”. He added that political opposition should retain some dignity and accused Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders of bringing deceased family members into public speeches.
“The language that was once associated with thugs and hooligans is now being used by the Congress President himself... Their entire style of functioning has turned into that of a mafia. This isn't a political party anymore -- it seems more like a mafia gang,” the BJP said on its X handle.
Shah links remarks to Congress' defeats
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also criticised Kharge over the remarks about Modi's father, accusing him of crossing the boundaries of public conduct.
“This is not the first time that the Congress party has used abusive language against Modi ji or his family,” Shah said. He referred to earlier remarks about the Prime Minister, including calling him a “merchant of death” and mocking his poverty by describing him as a “chaiwala”.

Shah blamed the Congress's repeated election defeats for what he described as growing frustration within the party. He alleged that it had run short of policy issues and was increasingly resorting to personal attacks. He also said voters had repeatedly responded to such remarks by rejecting the Congress.

“Using such language against the Prime Minister amounts to disrespecting the mandate of the people. Kharge is following a script written by Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and their family. Insulting Modi and his family has long been a Congress habit,” Saraogi said in a statement.
