BJP's new national team: Smriti Irani, Ram Madhav come back; Amit Malviya benched

BJP names 13 national vice presidents and eight general secretaries, with Smriti Irani, Vinod Tawde and Piyush Goyal receiving key organisational roles


The BJP on Monday (August 17) announced a new national team, with several prominent leaders receiving fresh organisational responsibilities. Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former national general secretary Ram Madhav are among 13 leaders named national vice presidents.

The group also includes former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja, Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchandra Kar.

The ruling party at the Centre has named eight national general secretaries, including former Union minister Smriti Irani and Vinod Tawde, along with Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.

Piyush Goyal will take charge as national treasurer, while Rajesh Mangal becomes joint treasurer. BL Santhosh retains his organisational secretary role, with Shivprakash and Saudan Singh appointed joint general secretaries.

The party has also assigned Sambit Patra as North-East coordinator and Tarun Chugh as central office in-charge.

Congratulating the new office bearers, Prime Minister Narendra expressed confidence that they would strengthen the party. "Congratulations to the newly appointed National Office Bearers of the BJP and those who have been given various responsibilities in the Party. This newly appointed team brings together organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect. I am confident they will give their best in strengthening our Party and focussing on public service. My best wishes to them," stated PM Modi in a post on X.

Nabin congratulates new office-bearers

Making the announcement, BJP national president Nitin Nabin congratulated the newly appointed office bearers, stating that they would provide new momentum to the party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the newly appointed office bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Team. With a blend of experience and energy, this team will give new momentum to the organisation under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji,” stated Nabin in a post on X.

“I am confident that every member, with the spirit of a dedicated karyakarta, will further strengthen the organisation to take forward the resolve of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and the commitment to nation-building to new heights,” he added.
