The actor was about to leave for the airport at 4.45 am and was putting the gun in its case when it fell and a bullet got fired

Bollywood actor Govinda suffered a bullet injury on his leg at home when his licensed revolver went off accidentally as he was putting it in the case in a hurry on Monday morning (October 1). He was hospitalised, but the injury was not severe and he is out of danger, said his manager.

The accident occurred at 4.45 am when the 60-year-old actor was alone at his home in Juhu, Mumbai. The police said he did not register any complaint.

The police have confiscated his firearm and have launched an investigation.

Was about to leave for the airport

His manager Shashi Sinha said they were supposed to catch a flight at 6 am to go for a show in Kolkata. Govinda was about to leave for the airport when the incident took place. The revolver fell from his hand and a bullet got fired, which hit his leg.

The doctor removed the bullet from his leg, and his condition is fine, said Sinha. Govinda is still in the hospital.

“It is due to God’s grace that Govinda ji sustained only a leg injury and it was nothing serious,” said the actor’s manager.

Govinda was one of the most popular actors in Bollywood in the 90s. He started off as an action hero, and then churned out several comedy films. He was also known for his dancing. He has not acted in any movies for the past five years or so.
