Asian Games Live | India win Hockey gold after beating Japan; gold rush continues

India has secured a total of 93 medals at the Asian Games 2023, comprising 21 gold, 33 silver, and 39 bronze medals.


Indian wrestler Kiran Bishnoi, who had previously won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, secured another notable achievement by winning the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 76kg category at the Asian Games 2023. Kiran achieved this victory with a commendable 6-3 win against her opponent, Mongolia's Ariunjargal Ganbat at the 19th Asian Games, in Hangzhou, China on Friday (October 6).

India faced a tough challenge in the men's recurve team final at the Asian Games 2023, losing 5-1 against the Republic of Korea. Despite their efforts, the Indian team settled for the silver medal in this fiercely contested match.

Indian wrestler Sonam Malik achieved a remarkable victory at the Asian Games 2023 by defeating China's Long Jia in the women's freestyle 62kg bout, securing the bronze medal.

The Indian women's sepaktakraw team secured its inaugural bronze medal in the sport after a loss to Thailand in the regu semifinal.

The Indian Men's Kabaddi team thrashed Pakistan 61-14 to clinch a place in the final.

India's HS Prannoy suffered a straight-games defeat against China's Li Shifeng, with scores of 16-21, 9-21, and settled for the bronze medal.

In a nail-biting quarter-final match at Hangzhou 2023, the Indian men's recurve team secured a thrilling 5-4 victory against Mongolia.

India's Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur, and Simranjeet Kaur clinched the bronze medal in the recurve women's team event by defeating Vietnam's Thi Anh Nguyet Do, Thi Thanh Nhi Nguyen, and Phuong Thao Hoang with a score of 6-2 at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China on Friday (October 6).

In cricket, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma led India to a convincing 9-wicket victory over Bangladesh, securing their spot in the Men's final. They will face either Pakistan or Afghanistan in the summit clash.

India's medal count at the Asian Games 2023 stands at 93, including 21 gold, 33 silver, and 39 bronze medals.

    Badminton: HS Prannoy secures bronze

    Prannoy HS made history as the second Indian men’s singles badminton player to secure a bronze medal at the Asian Games in 41 years. This achievement came after his defeat with scores of 16-21, 9-21 in the semifinal against the Chinese favorite, Li Shi Feng, in Hangzhou, China, on Friday. The last Indian to achieve this feat was Syed Modi, who won the bronze medal in the 1982 edition of the Asian Games.
