Within hours of the shooting incident during the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington on Saturday (April 26), Iran appeared to mock Donald Trump by circulating a Lego-style diss track video online.

The clip, released by Explosives Media, features a plastic, animated version of Trump and uses a rap-style format to satirise his leadership and the security response during the event. It portrays scenes of chaos followed by swift control by security personnel.

The video surfaced soon after gunshots were reported near the venue, triggering the evacuation of Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other senior members of the administration.

Questions Trump's administration

Its release comes against the backdrop of rising tensions involving the US, Israel, and Iran, as well as the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.

Using sharp lyrics and satire, the video accuses the Trump administration of staging or amplifying dramatic situations to shape public perception. It suggests that while Trump may influence narratives within the US, he does not hold sway over Iran.

The track also aims at Trump’s political standing, with lines implying that he resorts to spectacle when his popularity dips. “Every time your polls drop, you pull up the same scheme,” one line reads. Other verses mock his public image, describing him as “fragile” and questioning his leadership amid economic concerns.

'Shots will be fired'

References to “empty plates,” a hurried exit, and a “staged scene” are used to frame the dinner incident as confusion rather than a major crisis, while also suggesting that the situation was quickly brought under control.

The video has gained traction online, especially as the shooting itself had already sparked debate following remarks by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Her comment about “shots fired,” intended as a figurative reference to sharp political remarks, drew attention after actual gunfire was reported.

While some users dismissed the overlap as coincidence, others questioned the timing and raised concerns about the credibility of the episode. Several posts on social media also speculated about possible motives, though no evidence has supported such claims.

Satirical videos

This is not the first instance of Iran-linked platforms using satirical, AI-generated content to target the US president. Earlier, similar Lego-style videos mocking Trump had gone viral online.

Explosives Media is a group that describes itself as independent but is widely suspected of links to the Iranian establishment. The group has been known for producing AI-generated content that blends humour with political messaging, often bypassing platform filters due to its animated format.

Other videos from the network have included satirical takes on US military operations and conspiracy-laced narratives tied to global events.
