US elections | Trump leads in 6 out of 7 swing states
A candidate cannot win the presidential election without winning at least some of the swing states
With the results of the US presidential elections coming in, there are seven swing states that people are keeping their eyes on.
A swing state is one where there’s no overwhelming preference for Democrats or Republicans. They are also referred to as “battleground states” or “purple states”.

The seven key swing states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. These states have 93 electoral college votes at stake out of a total of 538.
A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the election.
Kamala Harris needs 44 electoral votes from these states to win the election, while Trump needs 51 (assuming both candidates win all the states where polls show them with significant leads).

Georgia: Trump leads with 95 per cent with 95 per cent of the votes counted.
North Carolina: With 55 per cent of the votes counted, Trump is ahead with 51 per cent vs 48 per cent for Harris.
Michigan: Trump is leading with 67 per cent with 48 per cent of the votes counted.
Pennsylvania: After 85 per cent of the votes have been counted, Trump is leading with 75 per cent.
Wisconsin: Trump is leading with 72 per cent after 77 per cent of the votes have been counted.
Arizona: With 53 per cent of the votes counted, Trump is leading with 80 per cent.
