Jaishankar in talks with Iran, Gulf leaders amid tensions
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi as tensions between the US and Iran continue to intensify. The two discussed bilateral ties and the broader situation in West Asia. Jaishankar later posted, "Received a call from the Foreign Minister of Iran. Discussed the present situation."
The Iranian Embassy said, "Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a phone conversation with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India's Minister of External Affairs, discussing bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments."
Jaishankar also held calls with UAE minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Qatar’s Prime Minister Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. "Discussed the evolving situation in West Asia with DPM & FM Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of UAE," he wrote, adding separately, "Had a telecon on the ongoing conflict with PM & FM Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar this evening."
