Iran says Israel will face proportional reaction for any action it takes: Report

Israel said the attacks on targets in Iran are justified as measures of self-defence, and warned Iran that it will pay a heavy price if it begins a new round of escalation

After Israel launched a series of air strikes on Iran early Saturday (October 26), Iran has reportedly said that Israel would face a proportional reaction for any action it takes.

Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim quoted certain sources as saying that Iran is prepared to respond to any Israeli aggression.

The Israeli army in turn has warned Iran that it will pay a heavy price if it begins a new round of escalation in the region.

Limited damage: Iran

Iran said the Israeli attacks on Saturday caused “limited damage”.

The Iranian state TV reported strong explosions around Tehran, but did not give details. It claimed that the explosions heard around Tehran were due to the activation of Iran’s air defence system.

“The loud blasts heard around Tehran were related to the activation of the air defence system against the actions of the Zionist regime which attacked three locations outside of Tehran city,” reported Iran’s state TV on Saturday.

Residents in the city of Karaj near Tehran also reported hearing blasts.

Iran’s Fars news agency said that several military targets near Tehran were targeted by Israeli forces.

Israel justifies attacks as ‘measures of self-defence’

Israeli officials said the attacks on targets in Iran on Saturday are justified as measures of self-defence, and were in response to the barrage of missiles and rockets Iran launched at Israel on October 1.
