Leo director, Lokesh Kanagaraj injured at promotional event in Kerala; returns to TN
A massive crowd which had gathered to see Lokesh Kanakaraj at Aroma Theatre in Palakkad went berserk and the director got hurt in the melee
Successful south director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is basking in the success of his latest film, Leo, the Vijay starrer, suffered a leg injury on Tuesday (October 24) when fans went berserk at a crowded promotional event in Kerala. The director cancelled the rest of his programmes and returned to Tamil Nadu.
According to a statement issued by a PRO, Pratheesh Sarkar, the director Lokesh Kanakaraj, who was in Kerala on a success tour to promote Leo, had to contend with an “unprecedented rush” of people when he visited Aroma Theatre in Palakkad. A large crowd had gathered at the theatre to catch a glimpse of the young director, who has been consistently giving box-office hits like Leo in 2023, VIkram in 2022 and Kaithi in 2019.
Despite the security that was in place for the film promotion, the “unstoppable flow” of fans to see Lokesh at Aroma Theatre went out of hand.
Lokesh injured his leg in the melee even as lathi-wielding policemen tried their best to control the crowd. Lokesh immediately cancelled all his other events in Kerala and returned to Chennai. The theatre visits to Ragam Theatre in Thrissur and Kavita Theatre in Kochi scheduled for today have been cancelled, said the PRO's statement.
The media interaction which was to be held in Kochi today has been postponed as well. Despite mixed reviews, Leo continues to rack up record collections at the box-office with housefull shows.
With music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, Leo stars a galaxy of stars besides Vijay and Trisha.
Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Mysskin, Mathew Thomas, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Sandy, Janani, Abhirami Venkatachalam and Babu Antony also feature in this thriller.
