'Drink if you dare': Kejriwal asks EC top brass to drink from bottles filled with Yamuna water

Kejriwal dramatically flashed water bottles to EC's demand for proof to back his claims that BJP's Haryana government mixed "poison" in Yamuna water supplied to Delhi

After the Election Commission on Thursday asked AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal not to mix the issue of increased ammonia in Yamuna with his allegation of river poisoning, Kejriwal dared EC officials, BJP and Congress to drink Yamuna water.

"Drink if you dare" is Kejriwal's dramatic response at a press conference as he flashed water bottles filled with Yamuna water to the EC's demand for proof to back claims of BJP's Haryana government attempted "genocide" by mixing "poison" in Yamuna water supplied to Delhi.

"We have four bottles... will send to each one of them... please drink and show us. Then we will believe they were right," he said, pointing to a row of plastic bottles filled with Yamuna water on the table at the press conference in Delhi.

Factual evidence

The EC had given him a fresh opportunity to explain his charges against the Haryana government by Friday.

Not satisfied with his initial reply, the EC had asked him to provide factual evidence with specific and pointed response to type, quantity, nature and manner of poisoning of Yamuna.

He was also asked to share details of engineers, location and methodology of detecting the "poison" by Delhi Jal Board staff by Friday 11 am, failing which the Commission will be free to take appropriate decision in the matter.

Poisoned water

Kejriwal had on Wednesday responded to the Election Commission notice over his claim the Haryana government was "mixing poison" in Yamuna, and said raw water received from the BJP-ruled state in the recent past has been "highly contaminated and extremely poisonous" for human health.

In the 14-page reply to the EC, the former Delhi chief minister said if such "toxic water" is allowed to be consumed by people, it would lead to grave health hazard and fatality.
