Tejashwi wins Raghopur after intense back-and-forth contest

Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate, has retained his family bastion of Raghopur after a fiercely contested, back-and-forth battle throughout the counting day. The RJD leader ultimately secured victory by around 11,000 votes. Earlier in the day, as counting began, Tejashwi had expressed confidence in the Opposition bloc’s prospects, saying, “It will be a people's victory. Change will come. We are forming the government," reported NDTV.

Raghopur has long been synonymous with the RJD, with both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi representing the seat in earlier years. Tejashwi has held the constituency since 2015, winning it by more than 38,000 votes in 2020.

This election saw a strong challenge from BJP candidate Satish Kumar Yadav, who previously defeated Rabri Devi in 2010 as a JD(U) nominee. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party also fielded a candidate in the constituency.

Adding to the intrigue, one of Tejashwi’s rivals this time was Prem Kumar from the Janshakti Janata Dal, the party launched by his estranged brother Tej Pratap Yadav. Raghopur, considered the RJD’s safest seat, once again lived up to its reputation as a high-profile battleground.

Chirag Paswan thanks voters for ‘right choice’ in Bihar

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has thanked the people of Bihar for what he described as a “historic mandate” in the 2025 Assembly elections. Paswan described the verdict as not just an electoral victory but a reaffirmation of the direction Bihar voters want for the state’s future.
