As the nation finishes voting across seven phases, exit polls results seek to gauge the voter's mood; which way is the wind blowing?
On June 1, India finished voting for its 18th Lok Sabha, and the results will be announced on June 4 (Tuesday).
Meanwhile, various media groups and pollsters have conducted exit polls, where voters across election phases and geographies were asked whom they voted for.
The 2024 Parliament elections, which started on April 19, spanned over seven phases. Today, voters in 57 constituencies across eight states and Union Territories cast their votes, wrapping up the exercise.
Apart from the Lok Sabha, Assembly elections were held for Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. Some of the exit polls will cover these, too.

INDIA bloc to get over 295 seats: Kharge
INDIA bloc parties will get more than 295 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Saturday, asserting that they had arrived at the figure after feedback from people.
Targeting the BJP, he said, “They are trying to give a narrative through government exit polls and we want to tell the people the truth. The INDIA bloc will get more than 295 seats. We have arrived at this figure after speaking with all our leaders,” Kharge said.
According to news reports, this is how Kharge came to the number: 40 seats in UP, 7 in Rajasthan, 24 in Maharashtra, 22 in Bihar, 40 in Tamil Nadu, 20 in Kerala, 24 in West Bengal (including TMC), 13 in Punjab, 1 in Chandigarh, 4 in Delhi, 5 in Chhattisgarh, 10 in Jharkhand, 7 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Haryana, and 16 in Karnataka.
“This is a survey of the people. The people have given this information to our leaders. The government surveys are there and their media friends also inflate figures and put it out. Therefore, we want to tell you about the reality,” the Congress president said.

INDIA does a U-turn on exit poll debates
INDIA bloc parties on Saturday (June 1) announced that they will participate in the exit poll debates on television in the evening after the grouping's top leaders met and deliberated on the issue at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence.The development came a day after the Congress said it has decided not to participate in any Lok Sabha exit poll debates on television channels. The party does not want to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP, it had said.
