CM Revanth Reddy blasts Modi and KCR, accuses PM of insulting Telangana
Reddy said Modi had not fulfilled the promises made to Telangana including on setting up a steel plant, a railway coach factory and more in the state
Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy has lashed out at the BJP and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of insulting the state with comments on its formation.
Does Modi have the right to seek votes in Telangana when he insulted the state, Reddy asked at an election rally on Sunday (April 21) in support of Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Congress candidate from Bhuvanagiri.
Unfulfilled promises
Reddy also said Modi had not fulfilled the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act including on setting up a steel plant, a railway coach factory and more in the state.
Modi had commented in parliament that the then Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) “killed” the "mother” (Andhra Pradesh) to give birth to "child” (Telangana), the chief minister said
Congress commitment
The Congress fulfilled the promise of Telangana's formation though it was decimated in Andhra Pradesh in the process, the chief minister said on Sunday.
Reddy also alleged that "democratic systems” in the country were collapsing because of the misuse of institutions under the Modi regime.
Left allies
The INDIA bloc should win the Lok Sabha elections now on to safeguard the Constitution, he added.
The Congress is contesting the elections with the support of the Left parties in Telangana, Reddy said.
Blasts BRS
Alleging that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not treat the Left parties with respect, he said the Congress never insulted them despite differences of opinion.
Reddy claimed that KCR, as the BRS chief is known, will "mortgage” the state to Modi even if his party wins one Lok Sabha seat.
Congress performance
The BRS had supported the Modi government on demonetisation, GST, triple talaq, abolition of Article 370 and other issues and that KCR never fought against Modi on any issue, he said.
Reddy, the Congress' Telangana unit chief, highlighted the implementation of his party's election, promises, including free travel for women in state-run RTC buses, supply of LPG cylinders for Rs 500 and free power up to 200 units to the poor.
