Rahul Gandhi’s assets: Rs 20 cr in stocks, property but no house or car
Rahul declares assets worth Rs 20 cr and an income of Rs 1.02 cr for the financial year 2022-2023. Interestingly, he does not own a house or vehicle
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is the sitting MP from Wayanad in Kerala, filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections in the same constituency. According to India Today, the affidavit he filed along with his nomination shows Rahul’s total assets are worth a little over ₹20 crore.
This includes immoveable property worth ₹11.14 crore and moveable assets of ₹9.24 crore.
What Rahul owns
His immoveable assets include office space in Gurugram currently valued at more than ₹9 crore, and agricultural land in Mehrauli, an inherited property that he co-owns with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
His moveable assets include ₹4.3 crore investments in stocks, ₹3.81 crore investments in mutual funds, ₹26.25 lakhs in a bank account, and ₹55,000 in cash. He also owns gold bonds worth ₹15.2 lakhs, and investments of ₹61.52 lakhs in National Savings Schemes, Postal Savings, insurance policies, and others.
In addition to this, he owns jewellery worth ₹4.2 lakh, and has liabilities of ₹49.7 lakh. He has declared a total income of ₹1.02 crore for the financial year 2022-2023. Interestingly, he does not own a residential flat or a vehicle.
Opponents
Rahul is contesting against senior CPI leader Annie Raja and BJP’s Kerala chief K Surendran in the elections scheduled for April 26.
A report by News18 says Annie Raja’s total assets as declared in the affidavit are worth ₹72 lakhs. This includes an inherited property the value of which is ₹71 lakhs. She has declared bank deposits worth ₹62,000, jewellery worth ₹25,000, and ₹10,000 cash in hand.
Rahul won the Wayanad seat in 2019 with a huge margin of over 4 lakh votes.
