Old injury forces Khushbu Sundar to pull out of Lok Sabha poll campaign

Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar, who is among the major crowd-pullers for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, has pulled out of the Lok Sabha poll campaign because of an old tailbone injury.

She has shared on X the letter she sent to BJP national president JP Nadda stating her decision. The caption with the post reads, “At times, hard decisions have to be taken and focus needs to be on one’s health. I am at such a juncture today…”

“…I am forced to take this decision due to my persisting tailbone injury which needs immediate attention,” the caption adds.

Letter to Nadda

In the letter to Nadda, Khushbu has mentioned that the tailbone injury is from an accident she suffered in Delhi in 2019. “The injury has plagued me for the past five years, resisting healing despite ongoing treatment,” she has written.

The letter adds that she “was strictly advised by [her] medical team not to campaign as that would aggravate and worsen [her] condition”. However, she continued with the poll campaign “despite the pain and agony, much against [her] doctor’s advice, as a true dedicated BJP warrior”.

However, “as expected, the condition has worsened,” her letter states.

Medical procedure

Now, her medical team has advised her to undergo a procedure to hasten the healing process, the actor has explained in the letter.

Khushbu has clarified that it is not a major procedure but it is urgent and demands that she reduce her activities considerably, especially “extensive travel and prolonged periods of sitting, both of which are integral to election campaigning”, says the letter.

“This means…I must announce a pause in my active participation in the current election campaign,” she has stated in the letter.
