IUML gets 2 seats while RSP and Kerala Congress J get 1 each

The United Democratic Front (UDF), of which the Congress is a member, has reached consensus on seat sharing in Kerala for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The Congress is set to contest 16 seats in Kerala, while the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will contest two seats. The RSP (B) and Kerala Congress J will each contest one, VD Satheesan, Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, told media persons on Wednesday (February 28).
The IUML, which is getting the Ponani and Malappuram seats, is poised to secure one of the Rajya Sabha seats that will become vacant in July 2024. KCJ will contest in Kottayam and RSP in Kollam.
The IUML has announced its candidates for the Lok Sabha. Sitting MPs, ET Mohammed Bashir and Andussamad Samadani, will contest this time also, but they will swap the constituencies. While Bashir will be contesting from Malappuram, Samadani will do so from Ponani.
