INDIA to get 'clear, decisive' victory in Lok Sabha polls on June 4: Congress

Ramesh said the Congress made several complaints of breaches of the model code of conduct by the BJP including 14 against Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The INDIA alliance is going to get a “clear and decisive” mandate from the Lok Sabha elections on June 4 due to a positive campaign unleashed by the Congress, the party said on Friday (May 31).

Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera and Supriya Shrinate said the party’s ‘nyay’ (justice) guarantee and the primacy given to protecting the Constitution had swung voters’ mood.

Crediting Rahul

Ramesh said the Congress campaign was positive and a result of the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra.

He recalled that on January 23 Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had for the first time spoken about Yuva Nyay, Nari Nyay, Kisaan Nyay, Shramik Nyay and Hissedaari Nyay.

Each promise was given out on different days by Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Indian Constitution

Ramesh recalled that Gandhi carried a copy of the Constitution to public meetings and stressed the Congress guarantee to protect social justice, get a caste census done and remove the 50 per cent cap on reservation.

"We believe that due to our campaign … we are going to get a clear and decisive mandate on June 4," Ramesh said.

Election Commission

Ramesh also said the Congress made several complaints of breaches of the model code of conduct by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) including 14 against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Sadly, impartiality was not seen during the course of the campaign," he said, referring to the Election Commission.

Modi’s failure

Khera said the Congress campaign derailed Modi's "propaganda" and he did not tell the country what his government achieved had over the past 10 years.

The Congress leaders also released a compilation of 272 questions the party asked Modi in the last 72 days titled '72 Days, 272 Questions, 0 Jawab, Bhaag Modi Bhaag' (Run Modi Run).
