Congress government to give 10 kg free ration per month to poor: Rahul Gandhi

The Congress government will give all the poor families in the country 10 kg ration free every month, party leader Rahul Gandhi said on Friday (May 17) ahead of the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
"(The) Congress has taken another big decision for the poor families of the country -- our government will give you not 5 but 10 kg ration free every month,” he said in the midst of staggered Lok Sabha election.
“During the UPA government, we had given legal status to the right to food through the 'Food Security Act', 10 kg grain will be the next step in this direction,” Rahul posted on X.

He said the 10 kg ration and Rs 8,500 a month to be given to poor families will promote education and self-employment, helping millions of families to come out of poverty and boost India's economy. “(Prime Minister) Narendra Modi made 20-25 billionaires and ran the government of 'Adani', we will make crores of lakhpatis and run the government of 'Indians'," Rahul said.Recently, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge too had announced a 10 kg free ration for the poor if INDIA alliance comes to power.
The Lok Sabha elections' counting of votes will take place on June 4.
