BJP announces 14 more Lok Sabha candidates in Tamil Nadu

The prominent amongst its candidates in the second list are noted film actor-cum-director Radhika Sarathkumar and lawyer RC Paul Kanagaraj


In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to kickstart on April 19, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (March 22) announced its candidates for 14 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat of Puducherry.

It has fielded A Namassivayam, a minister in the Puducherry government, from the Union Territory. Noted film actor-cum-director Radhika Sarathkumar has been fielded in the Virudhunagar constituency, whereas lawyer RC Paul Kanagaraj has been fielded in North Chennai.

The saffron party had declared its candidates for nine Lok Sabha seats on Thursday (March 21), including its Tamil Nadu chief K Annamalai from Coimbatore and Union Minister L Murugan from Nilgiris.


Among the allies, the party has allotted 10 seats to Dr Ramadoss-headed Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), while a few seats have been given to some smaller partners.

It nominated former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan from Chennai South seat and ex-union minister Pon Radhakrishnan from Kanniyakumari, which he represented in 2014.

There are 38 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.
