TCS sacks woman employee who accused manager of sexual harassment
The company cited the employee’s “conduct” and her “social media posts” as reasons behind the termination of her employment
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has fired a woman employee who had accused her manager of sexual harassment five years ago.
The woman had been employed with the company for the past 11 years.
What led to the firing?
The company cited the employee’s “conduct” and her “social media posts” as reasons behind the termination of her employment.
TCS in the termination letter of the employee referred to two news articles and four statements by labour unions alleging workplace harassment.
Labour court order
The woman’s sacking on August 29 came weeks after the Kancheepuram Labour Court ruled in favour of TCS in the workplace sexual harassment case.
'TCS didn’t follow due procedure'
The woman in her plea has alleged that the company sacked her without citing any specific examples of misconduct or violation of company policies. She has also accused the firm of not following due process while terminating her employment.
“They (the company) have also not followed due process while terminating her employment,” the woman’s lawyer said.
