TCS asks employees to work from office 5 days a week starting October 1

Insiders have reported that managers from different departments are already encouraging employees to be present in office five days a week.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is set to discontinue its hybrid work arrangements from October 1. In an internal communication, the company instructed its employees to return to office full-time, indicating a massive change in work-from-home policies within the IT services sector.

The current requirement remains three days a week, but according to Moneycontrol, insiders have reported that managers from different departments are encouraging employees to be present in office five days a week. The company, while maintaining flexibility, is insisting on this change.

"As communicated by the CEO and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) in various townhalls, it is mandatory for all associates to attend the office on all working days (5 days per week if there are no holidays) starting October 1, 2023," an internal email read, according to a report in CNBC-TV18.

This marks a significant departure from TCS' previous policy established in September 2022, where employees were required to follow a schedule and be in office for three days each week.

The employees were also warned against non-compliance with this schedule.

It's noteworthy that this email hasn't been sent to all teams simultaneously; instead, it is being rolled out in stages.
