Top deals of Oct 6-12: Insure-tech startup InsuranceDekho raises $60 m
Onsurity, Krutrim Si Designs, Oro Money and Shiprocket were the other startups that raised funding over the week
Girnar Insurance Brokers Pvt Ltd, which operates insure-tech platform InsuranceDekho, has raised Series B funding of $60 million, according to PrivateCircle Research. Girnar Insurance Brokers Pvt Ltd, which operates insure-tech platform InsuranceDekho, has raised Series B funding of $60 million, according to PrivateCircle Research. The investors in the round included Beams Fintech Fund, TVS Capital, Goldman Sachs PE, BNP Paribas Cardif's insure-tech fund managed by Eurazeo, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Mahansaria Family Office, and Avataar Venture Partners.
Gurugram-based InsuranceDekho will use the funds to boost its marketing activities, expand its pan-India distribution network, scale up its tech platform and explore inorganic growth.
Next up was another insure-tech startup, Onsurity. New Delhi-based Onsurity Technologies Pvt Ltd raised Series B funding of $24 million from International -Finance Corporation (IFC), Nexus Venture Partners, and Quona Capital. It will use the funding to build an AI-powered technology solution aimed at eliminating prolonged waiting periods and uncertainties associated with claims.
Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal's artificial intelligence firm Krutrim Si Designs Pvt Ltd raised Series B funding of $23.64 million from Matrix Partners India. Krutrim Si, according to media reports, will focus on creating silicon chips, a cloud infrastructure, and AI models suited to the Indian market.
Orocorp Technologies Pvt Ltd, which runs gold loan startup Oro Money, raised $12.50 million from Singularity Ventures, PremjiInvest, Three State Capital, Siddhartha Sancheti, Mithun Sancheti, and 021 Capital. The Chennai-based entity is also operational in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Vijayawada, with plans to enter Coimbatore and Delhi shortly.
Fifth on the line-up was Bigfoot Retail Solutions Pvt Ltd, which runs logistics platform Shiprocket. The startup, which turned unicorn last year, raised Series E2 funding of $10.90 million from AFOS LLC, McKinsey's investment arm.
