Commercial LPG prices go up again; cylinders dearer by Rs 101 from Nov 1

The Centre has revised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders twice in the past two months, while domestic gas prices were reduced in August

From Wednesday (November 1), commercial 19-kg LPG cylinders will become expensive by up to Rs 101.50 in the four metros. However, the prices of domestic cylinders have remained unchanged.

The prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been revised for the second time in two months, with the price going up by Rs 209 from October 1.

With the November revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1,833 in Delhi, Rs 1,785.50 in In Mumbai, Rs 1,943 in Kolkata, and Rs 1,999.50 in Chennai.

In October, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders were hiked to Rs 1,731 in Delhi, Rs 1,684 in Mumbai, Rs 1,839.50 in Kolkata and Rs 1,898 in Chennai.

The hike by the state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation just ahead of Diwali is bound to dampen spirits for businesses.

In August, the Union Cabinet announced a reduction in domestic LPG prices, bringing much relief to households. Domestic 14.2-kg LPG cylinders now cost Rs 903 in Delhi, Rs 929 in Kolkata, Rs 902.5 in Mumbai, and Rs 918.5 in Chennai.

Commercial LPG cylinders had also become cheaper by Rs 157 in September and by Rs 100 in August. However, since then, the prices have gone up by about Rs 50 in effect since before the drop.
