BSNL launches satellite phone: Price, prepaid, postpaid plans and how to buy
Satellite phone is ideal disaster response, adventure travel and in remote places where there is no mobile connectivity
State-owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Thursday (July 9) announced the launch of its satellite phone, which keeps you connected in places where there are no mobile towers.
The satellite phone will work using satellites, unlike conventional mobile phone networks that need mobile towers for connectivity.

As per a post by BSNL on X (Formerly Twitter), the satellite phone is available for Rs 1,34,166, inclusive of all taxes.
The telecom operator said that the satellite phone is designed for challenging environments. It said that the satellite phone is ideal for defence, maritime, disaster response, mining, remote operations and adventure travel.
“When conventional mobile networks can’t reach, the BSNL Satellite Phone keeps you connected. Designed for challenging environments, making it an ideal solution for Defence, Maritime, Disaster Response, Mining, Remote Operations and Adventure Travel,” BSNL said.

Who can buy BSNL satellite phone?
To buy a satellite phone, one must get permission from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

Government Plan G1: Rs 3,500 per month with 16 minutes/SMS free
Government Plan G2: Rs 5,835 per month with 30 minutes/SMS free
Commercial Plan C1: Rs 11,670 per month with 60 minutes/SMS free

Monthly Plan G1: Rs 3,500 with 20 free minutes or SMS
Annual Plan GA: Rs 38,500 with 240 free minutes or SMS for the year
Commercial users
