Telangana polls: BJP seeks out Janasena for pre-poll alliance
"There will be clarity in a day or two on the pre-poll alliance," a Janasena release quoted party founder and actor Pawan Kalyan as saying
Telangana BJP president and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday met Janasena party founder and actor Pawan Kalyan over a possible alliance for the Telangana Assembly elections.
Kishan Reddy was accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rajya Sabha member K Laxman in the discussions at Pawan Kalyan’s office in Hyderabad.
Janasena, which has a tie-up with the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, is part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
"There will be clarity in a day or two on the pre-poll alliance," a Janasena release quoted Pawan Kalyan as saying.
Janasena backed BJP and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidates during the Assembly polls in 2014. It also did not contest in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporations at the BJP’s request.
Pawan Kalyan told the BJP leaders on Wednesday that there was pressure from his party activist to contest in at least 30 of the 119 seats in Telangana.
Pawan Kalyan has announced an alliance with the TDP for Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh.
