Congress pumps money into Telangana ahead of elections: BRS

Congress was accused of collecting about Rs 1,500 crore from builders, gold merchants and contactors in Karnataka to be spent in the Telangana Assembly battle

The Congress is pumping “hundreds of crores of rupees” from Karnataka to Telangana to “purchase” voters in the coming Assembly elections, BRS leader KT Rama Rao alleged on Friday.

Tagging a report suggesting that Rs 40 crore in cash was found during Income Tax searches in Karnataka, Rama Rao posted on “X”: “The intellectually bankrupt Congress and its leadership is pumping hundreds of crores of rupees from Karnataka to purchase votes in Telangana.”

“This was very much expected. Let’s say No to 'Scamgress' in (Telangana),” the minister said.

Elsewhere, health minister T Harish Rao told the media that the earlier “40 per cent commission government” in Karnataka had now become “50 per cent”.

He said the Congress was trying to bring money into Telangana to spend it here during elections.

Harish Rao accused the Congress of collecting about Rs 1,500 crore from builders, gold merchants and contactors in Karnataka to be spent in the Telangana Assembly elections.

“They (Congress) are scripting a plan to bring money from Bangalore via Chennai to Hyderabad… Some of the funds have reached Chennai and Hyderabad,” he said.

Harish Rao warned the contractors or businessmen involved in the funds movement that they will pay a heavy price.
