Akhilesh slams Congress; 'if confusion prevails in INDIA alliance, can't defeat BJP'
Calling it a betrayal, he pointed out that Congress should have said it before if they didn't want to give seats in MP to Samajwadi Party
Discord in INDIA alliance surfaces as an upset SP chief, Akhilesh Yadav, continued to lash out at the Congress party.
On Friday (October 20), Akhilesh Yadav, who was attending a public awareness campaign event in Shahjahanpur, said that Congress should have said it before if they didn't want to give seats in MP. Calling it a betrayal, he pointed out that if this confusion prevails among the INDIA alliance, they will not be able to defeat the BJP.
Further, he said, “Today, the SP is fighting only on seats where it has its own organisation. Now after Madhya Pradesh, I know that the INDIA alliance is for the (parliamentary) elections at the national level." And, he asked if Congress continues to behave like this, then who will stand with them?
He also added that if they fight against the BJP with confusion in our minds, then their chances of winning are slim.
After the SP failed to clinch a pact with the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav had accused the Congress of "fooling" other parties and hinting that if they had known the alliance will not work on the state level, they would not have been so open about the INDIA bloc. "Will think about alliance for the Lok Sabha polls," he had said.
Akhilesh Yadav also revealed that the SP strategy would be based on working for the PDA (Pichada, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) despite the INDIA alliance.
According to him, the PDA was formed first and the INDIA alliance came later. And he reiterated his stand that although the INDIA alliance is there, “our strategy is of PDA and PDA will be the one who will defeat NDA (National Democratic Alliance)".
The SP chief then attacked the BJP urging party workers to organise similar public awareness events in all Lok Sabha constituencies to make people aware of challenges and conspiracies they will have to face in the future from BJP.
The workers need to publicise how BJP misuses government machinery, bombards propaganda and spreads lies to such extent that the people at times accept it to be truth.
“They (BJP) do politics of hatred and to make others aware of that, SP will continue this kind of 'Shivir' (public awareness campaign event)," he added.
Then he mocked the poor infrastructure at Shahjhanpur, where garbage can be seen everywhere, animals roaming around on the street and no traffic arrangement. And, this is the situation under the double engine of the BJP government, he added.
