WhatsApp to get emoji reactions in Status feature in the future
Users will be soon able to react to the status of your friends and family on WhatsApp with emojis. Emojis are always more engaging, fun and easier to use as an instant reaction but they are however restricted to chats and status updates currently on the Meta-owned messaging app.
WABetaInfo, a website which gives regular updates on new features on WhatsApp, divulged that the app is working on a feature to enable users to send an immediate emoji reaction for Status updates.
This will be very similar to how emoji reactions work on Instagram stories.

This new facility may be called “Quick Reactions” with eight new emojis on display, which will include folded hands, smiling face with heart eyes, face with tears of joy, clapping hands, face with open mouth, crying face, party popper, and hundred points. According to WABetaInfo, which shows a beta version of the WhatsApp desktop app, the emojis will sit right above the text box and tapping on one will send your reaction to the particular Status.
This feature is expected to roll out on the mobile, and both Android and iOS will be able to support the emoji reaction feature.
Instagram recently introduced the emoji reaction feature for its users. A list of emojis pops up next to the text box and tapping one alerts your Instagram contact about your reaction.
When your contact checks the prompt, the emoji will fill the screen and just fly away. It is unclear whether WhatsApp will also support the same animation. It is also not certain when this new feature will be available on this messaging app.
