‘IIT IIM Shaadi’ website founder, Karan Johar get trolled; here’s why
There is a matrimonial website exclusively for alumni of India’s premier institutions – IIT and IIM. The portal and its founder are being brutally trolled online. Here is the reason for it.
Netizens are irked by the fact that the website’s founder is not an alumnus of either IIT or IIM. Memes and jokes have started flowing on social media.
The portal iitiimshaadi.com gained attention after filmmaker Karan Johar became its brand ambassador and shared a video post on his Instagram handle.
“A matrimonial platform like no other – IITIIMShaadi.com! And I’m super excited to see some ‘real’ love come to life, not just reel! If you are looking for your life partner, https://www.iitiimshaadi.com/ should be your go-to site. They invite alumni of the top 10-15 colleges from all fields to register and find a match amongst each other! @iitiimshaadi__ puts it well – Alma Mater Matters #iitiimshaadi #ad,” Johar wrote along with a video.

According to the website, its founder, Tarak Gupta is a management graduate from SP Jain School of Global Management.
“Our founder believes that alumni of Premier Education Institutions deservedly desire companionship of the ‘matching intellect’, with similar experiences and expectations. This portal addresses the tailor-made needs of this segment,” it stated.
“We invite registration from alumni of top few Indian and Global Institutions (Management, Engineering, Architecture, Medicine, Mass Communication, CA/CS/ICWA/CFA, Fashion Design & many more).
“Alma Mater Matters Pvt Ltd (IITIIMShaadi) – Exclusive Lounge to Explore Matrimonial Alliance Among Alumni of Premier Educational Institutions. The website was launched in April 2014. We now have members in India and 50 other countries. One of the biggest differentiators of our website, other than its niche segment, is that we authenticate each profile on the basis of education by screening their institution’s degree, ID-card/mark sheet etc,” it said.
Delivery startup Dunzo joined in tweeting, “We deliver for your Shaadi even if you’re not from IIT IIM. Just saying.”

Just saw an ad of @karanjohar promoting the IIT IIM shaadi(dot)com.
Fascinating to know that the founder neither went to an IIT or an IIM.#iitiim #iitiimshaadi #KaranJohar
