JNN convocation: 300 students receive degrees, two win fully funded Taiwan scholarships
Top-performing students honoured with cash prizes; chief guest encourages graduates to excel in their careers and strengthen India-Taiwan academic ties
The 14th Graduation Day ceremony of JNN Institute of Engineering (Autonomous), located at Kannigaipair near Sengundram, Chennai, was held at the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium on the college campus.
The event was presided over by S Jayachandran, Chairman of the JNN Educational Group. Eric CL Chao, Deputy Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in Chennai, and Naveen Jayachandran, Vice Chairman of the JNN Educational Group, were present on the occasion. The Principal of the college, Dr G Mohan Babu, welcomed the gathering.
The chief guest, Stephen SC Hsu, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in Chennai, inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp.
He later distributed cash prizes worth around ₹2 lakh to students who secured the top three ranks in the 2025 graduating batch across various programmes, including B.E. Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), B.Tech. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Agricultural Engineering, B.E. Robotics and Automation, Biomedical Engineering (BME), and MBA. He also conferred degrees on 300 graduating students and delivered the graduation address.
Speaking on the occasion, he said: "Taiwan continues to maintain and strengthen its friendship with India. As part of efforts to advance semiconductor technology, 48 research centres are functioning across South India, of which 12 are located in Tamil Nadu. I am proud to share this with you.
"I am delighted to present degrees to the graduating students today. Two students from the JNN Educational Group are travelling to Taiwan to pursue higher education with full tuition scholarships. On behalf of myself and my country, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to them.
"I also wish all the students of this institution great success. May they achieve excellent academic results and rise to greater heights in their careers and lives."
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ashok, Head of the Department.
