Yogi announces financial aid to daily wagers hit by COVID-19 shutdown

In a bid to help the daily wage workers amid the coronavirus pandemic taking a toll on their livelihood, Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday (March 21) announced to extend financial support to the labourers.

In a bid to help the daily wage workers amid the coronavirus pandemic taking a toll on their livelihood, Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday (March 21) announced to extend financial support to the labourers.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the state government will give 15 lakh daily wage labourers and 20.37 lakh construction workers ₹1,000 to meet their needs.

In a press conference on Saturday morning, the chief minister said there were 23 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, of which nine have already recovered.

The move comes in view of the fast-spreading coronavirus claiming 11,000 lives globally and infecting around 300 people in India.
