Portugal beat Netherlands 1-0 to win the inaugural UEFA Nations League title. A well-crafted goal by Goncalo Guedes made the 2016 Euro Cup champions, the first team to win the tournament on Sunday (June 9).
Guedes, preferred to Joao Felix in the starting lineup, nut-megged an opponent, exchanged passes with Bernando Silva and then beat goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen with a shot from the edge of the area right at the hour mark.
After Portugal scored, team Netherlands did threaten several times but only to be denied by Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio from finding an equaliser.
Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick made them reach the finale. The team was dangerous throughout the game. This title is an addition to the Euro 2016 title they won three years ago with also 1-0 win against the hosts France and under the same coach Fernando Santos.
