American tennis sensation Coco Gauff won her first WTA title after beating Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to clinch the Upper Austria Ladies title in Linz on Sunday (October 13).

The 15-year-old, bounced back from a one-sided second set to win the title rather comfortably.

Gauff, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and third round at the US Open, reached the first WTA final of her career on Saturday (October 12) after taking down Andrea Petkovic 6-4, 6-4 in the last four.

The teenage rising star had earlier called Linz her “lucky place” and its charm held for the teenager through the final despite a late wobble. After racing out to a 5-0 lead in the deciding set, Gauff dropped two late games to Ostapenko before closing out the match.

Gauff, who burst onto the scene with a run to the Wimbledon last 16 earlier this year, is the youngest woman to make a WTA final since Nicole Vaidisova won the Tashkent title in 2004.

The current world number 110 is set to climb to at least 80th in the rankings next week.
