PM’s ex-principal secy Nripendra Misra to head Ram temple panel

Nripendra Misra, former principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will head the temple construction committee of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust.

The appointment was made on Wednesday (February 19) and Misra’s mandate would be to head the committee and manage the construction of the temple on the 67 acres of land allotted for the temple.

The Indian Express reported that Mahant Nritya Gopal Das of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Champat Rai had been elected president and the general secretary of the Trust, respectively.

The report said the first meeting of the Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra was held at the residence of senior lawyer K. Parasaran, following the Supreme Court order.

An account would be opened with the State Bank of India in Ayodhya for donations, Champat Rai told reporters after the meeting. Swami Govind Dev Giri of Pune is the treasurer.

The SC had allowed the construction of the Ram temple in on November 9 and subsequently, PM Modi had announced the formation of the 15-member trust in Parliament on February 5.
