Kangana compares Bhiwandi building collapse to Pulwama

Actor Kangana Ranaut has launched a fresh verbal attack on Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and MP Sanjay Raut. The actor tweeted saying the state government’s carelessness led to the death of ’50’ people in the recent building collapse in Bhiwandi.

Kangana drew comparison between the Bhiwandi building crash and the Pulwama terror attack. “If you had focused on this building [which collapsed recently] instead of demolishing my house illegally, these 50 people would have been alive today. Your carelessness has killed more innocents than the soldiers killed by Pakistan in Pulwama. Only God knows what will happen of Mumbai,” the actor said in a tweet.

About 41 people got killed when a residential building in Bhiwandi collapsed due to heavy rains a few days back. Forty CRPF jawans were killed in the Pulwama terror attack in February 2019.

Kangana had first drawn the ire of the Maharashtra government after she pointed finger at Mumbai police’s inquiry into Sushant Singh Rajput death case. After that it was an open for all as the outspoken actor single-handedly fought a twitter war with Raut and Thackeray, which culminated into Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulldozer partially demolishing her Mumbai office. While the BMC claimed the construction was illegal, Kangana said it was an act to scare her from not speaking up. Her lawyer has sought a Rs 2 crore compensation for the demolition, a claim rubbished by the BMC.

‘Can’t leave demolished house the way it is’: HC

The Bombay High Court directed Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut to file his reply to Kangana’s petition against the demolition of a part of her bungalow by the BMC.

The High Court stated: “We cannot leave the demolished house the way it is. The building is demolished partly, and in the heavy monsoon, we cannot leave it in this state. We will start hearing the petitioner tomorrow,” the bench said.

A bench of Justices S J Kathawalla and R I Chagla also directed the BMC officer, who signed the demolition notice served to Ranaut on September 7, to file his reply.

Both Raut and BMC’s counsels have asked for more time to file the reply.
