Assam: Grenade blast near shopping mall in Guwahati, six injured
At least six people, including two Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawans, were injured in a grenade blast near a busy shopping mall in Assam’s Guwahati around 8pm on Wednesday evening (May 15). While the injured have been shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and (GMCH), the condition of two people is reportedly critical.

According to police, the blast took place near the Guwahati Central shopping mall and the state zoo on the busy RG Baruah Road. The entire area has been cordoned off. The city’s police commissioner, Deepak Kumar, said investigation is underway.
While local TV channels have reoprted that the Paresh Baruah-led faction of the ULFA has claimed responsibility for the attack, the police have not commented yet.
Condemning the incident, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted: “Have directed authorities to rush to the spot and take stock of the situation. Also directed DGP to immediately apprehend the culprits and ensure the security of common people.”
