An auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru is creating waves on social media for his unique hack of using his UPI-QR code as his smartwatch’s screensaver to enable hassle-free and quick payment.
It was a tweet from social media influencer who goes by the name, ‘enthu-cutlet’, that introduced Bengaluru auto-rickshaw driver Chandan KR Pete and his innovation to X (earlier Twitter) users.
In a post, the influencer, tagging Bengaluru’s auto-hailing service Namma Yatri, shared how she was intrigued by Pete’s innovation for quick payments during a chance encounter with him in Bengaluru.
She refers to Pete as Tony Stark, the alter ego of Iron Man in the marvel series and shares a photo of his smartwatch.
“Today I met namma Tony Stark in @nammayatri. Asked my auto driver for the QR code. Man flipped his hand and showed me his smartwatch. Turns out he saved the QR code as his smartwatch screensaver. So much swag,” she tweeted.
The post has been shared at least 337 times and gathered 4,508 likes on X.
Replying to the post, another user shared an older tweet about a similar experience where an auto-rickshaw driver in Mumbai has set his UPI-QR code as his phone’s wallpaper.
“’Optimisation’ & ‘Solving for Users’ are not words only for closed door meetings in high-rise buildings. Everyone is at it all the time-everyone who wants to ‘grow’. This auto-rickshaw driver in #Mumbai made his #UPI-QR his wallpaper avoiding the waste of time in unlocking…” said the older tweet by the user named Masoom Jain.
