Drone fired from Lebanon explodes near Netanyahu’s home

A drone fired from Lebanon exploded near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in southern Haifa on Saturday (October 19), but Netanyahu and his wife were not present at the spot.

The incident took place two days after Israel killed Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza.

Two other drones fired from Lebanon were downed by air defences, triggering sirens in the Tel Aviv area. The third one struck a building in Caesarea in southern Haifa, triggering a loud explosion.

Israeli building damaged

Saudi Arabian media outlet Al-Hadath reported that a part of the building was damaged in the attack by the drone, which flew about 70 km from Lebanon. No one was injured in the attack.

Israel’s Channel 12, however, reported that at least five people in the Haifa area were treated for light injuries sustained in a rocket barrage from Lebanon.

War on Israel continues

It added that a residential building in the Haifa suburb of Kiryat Ata was damaged in the attack, along with cars parked nearby.

The attack followed the public pledge by the Hamas and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah not to stop fighting Israel despite the killing of Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 2023 attack on southern Israel that led to the horrific Gaza war.
