World’s richest person Elon Musk on Sunday (October 22) said he would give $1 billion to Wikipedia if it changes its name for one year.

Musk, who acquired the social media platform Twitter and later renamed it to X, made 'a stiff and firm offer' on his personal account on X.

Sharing a screenshot of Wikipedia asking for donations under the title “Wikipedia is not for sale”, Musk wrote, “I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia.”

He added that this was “In the interests of accuracy”. Later he added a sleeping face emoji while sharing the same screenshot again.

This post has been viewed more than 11.5 million times and also received over 11,000 replies.

One of the users’ replies, suggested, “@Wikipedia, Do it! You can always change it back after you collect (the money).”

Musk replied to this post by writing, “One year minimum. I mean, I’m a not fool lol.”

In another post questioned why Wikimedia Foundation “wants so much money”. Later, he wrote, "It’s a stiff & firm offer!"

“Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know …,” he wrote.
