Telangana police arrest eight for slaughtering a cow

The Telangana police on Saturday (February 27) arrested eight persons on charges of slaughtering a cow.According to Siddipet police commissioner, D Joel Davis, the eight had committed the offence at a poultry farm on the outskirts of the town on Friday (February 26) night. Their buyer is in Hyderabad.

According to Siddipet police commissioner, D Joel Davis, the eight had committed the offence at a poultry farm on the outskirts of the town on Friday (February 26) night. Their buyer is in Hyderabad. The accused had confessed to slaughtering three cows till now, the police officer claimed.
The police registered the case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 429 (killing or maiming animal) and 153 and 153a (both related to acts of promoting enmity between groups) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
An autopsy was conducted on the slaughtered animal by a government veterinary doctor.
The team, headed by Siddipet assistant commissioner of police, Rameshwaram, is investigating the case. The commissioner announced that arrangements would be made for a trial of the case in a fast track court.
The accused are: Mohammad Zuber (45), Mohammad Khaja (35), Mohammad Sadam (30), Mohammad Arafat (24), Mohammad Ibrahim (32), Mohammad Harshad (25), Mohammad Arif (30 years), Mohammad Zaved (30) of Shahjid Peta, Siddipet.
Siddipet Judicial first class Magistrate sent them to 14 days judicial remand at Sangareddy jail.
