Galwan martyr Col Santosh Babu's wife gets govt job, promised ex-gratia

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday (June 22) offered a job to Galwan martyr Colonel Santhosh Babu’s wife as a Group-I officer.


Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday (June 22) offered a job to Galwan martyr Colonel Santhosh Babu’s wife as a Group-I officer.

Extending support towards the family of the deceased, the chief minister met late Col Santosh Babu’s parents — B Upender and Manjula, Santosh Babu’s wife and children, Abhigna and Anirudh Teja — at their residence in Suryapet and offered his wife Santoshi a letter of appointment.

Last week, Santosh Babu was killed along with 19 other soldiers during the violent clashes that erupted between the Indian and Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh.

Even as the designation at which she would be joining the government service is not mentioned in the letter, state minister for power G Jagadish Reddy, hailing from Suryapet, told reporters that Santoshi, would be given a posting in whatever department she would feel comfortable.

He also handed over documents allotting 711 square yards of a site at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad to Santoshi.

Minister Jagadish Reddy also announced a bronze statue of Colonel Santosh Babu would be installed in the district court crossroads in Suryapet town and the road will be renamed as Colonel Santosh Marg.

The chief minister also assured the slain Colonel’s family that his sacrifice will not go in vain and they can reach out to him whenever needed. He also directed minister Jagadish Reddy to be available for any requirement of the family.
