If the party wins as predicted by the pollsters, late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s son M.K. Stalin (right) will lead the state.

Stalin slams CAA, takes a dig at AIADMK for supporting it

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin targeted the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Tuesday (December 17) for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act. At a protest rally organised at Kancheepuram, the DMK chief said India can be one country only if there is unity.

Tearing into the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, Stalin alleged that the party wasn’t running the government for Indians. “If they work for Indians, they could have thought about improving the economy, agriculture and putting an end to unemployment,” said Stalin.

Taking a jibe at Modi, Stalin said the PM was quoted as saying ‘Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir’ (All towns are our own, everyone our kin) in the United States, but he wasn’t following it in India.

“Targeting minorities is the main aim of the BJP. For many years we were united and peacefully, but the BJP has poisoned that. Why isn’t Muslims and Sri Lankan Tamils include in the legislation? We are not the E Palaniswami government to remain silent on whatever law you make, just because you have majority. It has once again been proved that the EPS government is anti-Tamils,” said Stalin.
