Karnataka COVID-19 in-charge minister posts pool photos, faces flak

Karnataka’s Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar landed in a controversy on Monday (April 13) after he posted a photo with his children in a swimming pool.

In the tweet, Sudhakar said,“After a long time joined my children for swimming hope maintaining social distance here also..haha.(sic)”, which he later deleted after facing flak.

Hitting back at Sudhakar, who is part of Karnataka’s COVID-19 response team, Senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar asked him to step down from his position.

“When the whole world is going through a health crisis, the Corona in-charge Minister Dr. Sudhakar is behaving irresponsibly by spending time in a swimming pool. It’s a matter of moral and ethical standards. He must resign out of his own accord and the Chief Minister should sack him from the cabinet,” Shivakumar tweeted.

As reported by Deccan Herald, Congress delegation is expected to meet Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to seek Sudhakar’s resignation.

Karnataka reported 15 more cases of COVID-19 on Monday morning, taking the total number of the infected in the state to 247.
