Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann marries Gurpreet Kaur in Chandigarh


Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 48, is marrying Gurpreet Kaur, a 32-year-old doctor, in a private ceremony at his residence in Chandigarh. The CM is tying the knot for the second time. His first marriage ended with a divorce, six years ago in 2016. Mann has two children from his previous marriage.

The CM’s marriage ceremony, a low-key family gathering, saw attendance of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and Raghav Chadha.

Raghav Chadha, tweeted a picture with Bhagwant Mann, sitting in his wedding outfit. Another tweet by Chadha, shows a picture of Bhagwant Mann and Gurpreet Kaur participating in the wedding rituals. Waheguru Ji, maintain your blessing on your kids, Raghav wrote.

Gurpreet is Mann’s family friend, report sources. She also helped Mann during his Punjab election campaign. “His mother’s dream was for him to marry again and settle down. I congratulate him. God bless the couple,” Raghav Chadha told reporters, according to a NDTV report.

The report also reveals that Gurpreet Kaur, is the youngest amongst her sisters. She completed her MBBS from a private university in Haryana, four years ago. Her neighbors in Pehowa say they came to know about the wedding through the media.

A tweet by ANI, talks about the wedding menu. It says the menu includes Indian and Italian cuisine, including Karahi Paneer, Tandoori Kulche, Dal Makhani, Navratan Biryani, Mausami Subzian, Apricot Stuffed Kofta, Lasagna Siciliano and Burrani Raita.

Fresh Fruit Trifle, Moong Dal Halwa, Shahi Tukda, Angoori Rasmalai and Dry Fruit Rabari are also part of the menu.

Other than Arvind Kejriwal, his family and Raghav Chadha, no one outside Mann’s family, was invited for the wedding celebrations.
